Bourton on the Water
Bourton on the Water is used to catering for visitors on a grand scale. Built of cotswold stone around the lovely Windrush river, the village center is enhanced by the large grassed areas along the banks, and low bridges over this shallow river. To cater for the huge tourist traffic there is a large Car and Coach park close to the center. (It is however a bit expensive at £1.60 for 2 hours, and this was in mid winter! plus the machine did not give change) During the summer the whole place seems full of tourists, and a constant stream of coaches bring tourists from around the globe. Despite this however, the attractions rarely seem overcrowded and after the day trips depart a peaceful calm falls over the village making it a great place to stay and enjoy the long summer evenings. Attractions Bourton does its best to entertain visitors with some lovely attractions, The Model Village is an exact scaled down replica of the village, complete with model Village! this is housed in the garden of the Old New Inn. Birdland is a lovely garden with hundreds of different varieties of Birds. The flamingoes are a particularly famous attraction and these gardens are set in the 3 acre gardens of the lovely Chardwar Manor Tudor House. There is also a Motor Museum set in an old water mill, plus a Perfumery and a Trout farm
